Atlantic Immigration Program
The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers and international graduates who wish to live and work in one of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Established to address labor shortages and boost economic growth in these regions, the AIP allows employers to hire candidates for positions they have been unable to fill locally. To be eligible, applicants must have a job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces, meet specific education and work experience criteria, and demonstrate proficiency in either English or French.
The AIP streamlines the immigration process by allowing employers to create a settlement plan for newcomers, ensuring they receive the support necessary for successful integration into the community. This includes access to resources like language training, housing, and employment assistance. The program offers three distinct streams: the Atlantic High-Skilled Program, the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program, and the Atlantic International Graduate Program, each designed for different types of applicants. By supporting the settlement of skilled workers and graduates, the AIP aims to bolster the labor force and contribute to the long-term economic prosperity of Atlantic Canada.
